β Frequently Asked Questions
Can I run multiple timers at the same time?
Yes! You can create as many timers as you need β they all run simultaneously and independently. Each has its own controls (Start, Pause, Reset). This is useful for cooking multiple dishes, managing interval training rounds, or tracking several deadlines at once.
Does the Circular Ring display work the same as the Progress Bar?
Absolutely. Both display modes are fully functional and start automatically when you click Start Timer. The Circular Ring shows an animated SVG arc that shrinks clockwise as time passes, with the remaining time displayed in the center. The color changes from green β yellow β red as the timer approaches zero, just like the Progress Bar.
Will my timers be saved if I close or refresh the page?
Yes β all timers are saved automatically in your browser's local storage. When you return to the page, your timers will be restored with their remaining time intact (Date/Event timers recalculate automatically). Note: because timers are stored in your browser, they are specific to the device and browser you're using and are not synced across devices.
What is the difference between Duration Mode and Date & Event Mode?
Duration Mode lets you set a fixed time interval β for example, "countdown 25 minutes from now". It is ideal for cooking, study sessions, workouts, or Pomodoro breaks. Date & Event Mode counts down to a specific calendar date and time β like "days until Christmas" or "hours until a flight". Date timers automatically recalculate remaining time even after a page refresh.
How does the Auto-repeat feature work?
When Auto-repeat is enabled, the timer automatically restarts 2 seconds after it reaches zero (with sound and confetti). This is perfect for interval training, HIIT workouts, or any repeating routine. It will keep repeating indefinitely until you manually pause or remove the timer.
What does "Count up after" mean?
When this option is checked, after the countdown reaches zero the timer doesn't stop β it switches into stopwatch mode and begins counting upward, showing how much extra time has passed since the deadline. This is useful when you want to know exactly how long you've gone over a limit (e.g. a meeting that ran long, or an oven timer you missed).
Why don't I hear the alarm sound?
Sound alerts use the Web Audio API built into your browser. Make sure: (1) the π Sound Alert checkbox is ticked when creating the timer, (2) your device is not on silent/mute, and (3) your browser has audio permission enabled. Some browsers on iOS require the page to have received a user interaction before playing audio β tapping Start Timer satisfies this requirement.
Can I get a notification even if the browser tab is minimised?
Yes β click Allow Notifications in the blue banner at the top of the page and grant permission in the browser prompt. When a timer finishes, you will receive a system notification even if you've switched to another tab or application. Note that the page must remain open (though minimised) for this to work; closing the tab stops all timers.
How do I share a timer with someone else?
Click the share icon (π) on any timer card to reveal the share URL. Copy it and send it to anyone β when they open the link the timer will be pre-filled with the same duration and label, ready to start. You can also copy the iframe embed code to add the timer to any website.
Is this countdown timer free and does it require registration?
Yes, completely free with no registration or account required. Everything runs directly in your browser β no data is sent to any server. Your timers are stored locally on your device using browser storage. There are no ads interrupting your timers and no usage limits.
